Shanghai delegation in São Gonçalo (RJ) — Brazil–China Friendship Day

On 8 August 2025, São Gonçalo hosted a meeting with a Shanghai delegation as part of Friendship Day celebrations between Rio de Janeiro State and China, established by State Law No. 8,251/2018. The agenda reinforced IECBC's role as a link between cultural, educational and government institutions from both countries. The meeting took place at the Municipal Department of Culture and was led by Secretary Júlia Sobreira. She presented São Gonçalo's artistic diversity and cultural heritage, highlighting carnival as a popular cultural expression and the contribution of local artists recognised nationwide. Delegation leader Wang Wei, deputy director-general of Shanghai's Culture and Tourism Promotion Office, praised the hospitality and warmth of the Brazilian people, saying these qualities encouraged closer ties with Brazil.
